Living by Lama

Lighting design

A collection of handcrafted terracotta luminaires — each piece reinterpreting an everyday form from Indian life into a quiet, ambient light source.

The collection

Udbhav

Udbhav

₹25,000/-

Reminiscent of the partially casted end of a concrete column with rebars projecting visibly beyond the ends, which symbolises a developing building. Together with the plant and the light source, it embodies the integration of natural, spiritual and man-made growth.

Aangan

Aangan

₹35,000/-

Takes inspiration from podia (chaura) present in the front yards (aangan) of traditional Indian homes. The design can be used as an indoor solution, a landscape element, or a spatial marker — potted plants alongside the light source create a fresh, natural, calming feel.

Namah

Namah

₹15,000/-

The two symmetrical terracotta pieces are strongly evocative of two palms pressed together when greeting someone. The light within, escaping through the narrow split, symbolises the positive energy associated with the namaskar.

Namah II

Namah II

₹15,000/-

A second contemplation of Namah. The nature of light is softer, escaping through the top, symbolising the balance and fusion of poles within a life.

Lota

Lota

₹15,000/-

A celebration of the humble ‘lota’, a small water vessel used for myriad purposes by people across cultures, and a staple of everyday life in Indian villages — recaptured here as a light source.

Namah (Wheel)

Namah (Wheel)

₹15,000/-

Inspired by a wheel, symbolising the constant motion and hustle of everyday life in India. Two terracotta rings with cutouts, covered by a translucent yellow sheet, achieve a soft diffused glow ideal for tabletop and ambient lighting.
